Poplar House is a welcoming place to stay with a warm family friendly home feel. The kids will love the ship climbing frame complete with a swing and slide, they can explore the bug house in the back garden and let their imaginations run wild with the painted animal jungle decorated walls and bunk beds with a pull-out trundle bed.

You can curl up on the sofa in the front room and watch the wall mounted TV with streaming enabled apps and a selection of family friendly DVDs.
The bright dining room with French doors opens onto the patio seating area, ship climbing frame and fully enclosed back garden. You can sit outside and watch the children enjoying themselves in the garden … you might even see a squirrel – a little visitor to our garden. The dining room adjoins the kitchen for communal cooking, and is well equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable and stress-free stay - it even has buckets, spades and beach towels so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own.

There is a separate shower room with a toilet downstairs where you can wash off after a hard day at the beach or busy day playing in the garden. As well as a family bathroom upstairs with a bath for that well earned rest.
The two spacious double bedrooms offer fresh linen and fluffy towels.
Children will enjoy sleeping in bunk beds with a pull out trundle in their own beautifully decorated room with an extensive selection of toys and games to keep them entertained. The house is also well equipped with a travel cot, highchair, baby bath, bathmats, stair gates and more for a fully kid friendly stay.

The house is tastefully decorated bringing new to old, and it even supports a good cause with the ‘Choose Well’ liquid hand wash with proceeds donated towards planting trees and regenerating kelp forests.

You don’t need to worry about parking as there is free off-road parking on the drive to the front and additional free street parking just outside. There is a pod point available for a small fee of £20 to charge your electric car up so your ready to explore the area further.

Gas and electric, WiFi, towels and bedding, as well as the cleaning, is included in the cost of your stay.

Whether you want a family holiday in a seaside town with an extensive promenade and several beaches (two of which are Blue Flag beaches) or you want to explore the best South Wales has to offer, Poplar House is the ideal place for you. From a family beach holiday to brisk winter walks watching the crashing waves, or as a sightseeing base, it is the perfect holiday location all year round.

The immediate vicinity includes Sandy Bay beach just a 400m walk away with the adjoining Fairground. For surfers and rock poolers Rest Bay is located at the other end of the promenade. There’s two play parks and a duck pond a short walk away and a large range of excellent takeaways just round the corner.

The surrounding areas are very child friendly away from the beach too with Margam Park a short drive away which has a Go Ape for older children and plenty of outdoor activities and playgrounds to explore. Wiggleys Fun Farm is perfect for younger guests and if the weather takes a turn there is a trampoline park and a number of soft plays close by.

The cities of Cardiff and Swansea are about a 30-minute drive away, depending on traffic, and for shopaholics McArthur Glen Designer Outlet is the next junction on the motorway! It’s the perfect place for designer shopping with up to 60% off RRP on fashion brands plus a 9 screen ODEON cinema and extensive dining options.

There is also the Elvis Festival (usually the last weekend of September) where visitors from all over the world come to Porthcawl for the Elvis convention. Be prepared for lots of people wandering around in full Elvis get-up and shops playing Love Me Tender, Hound Dog and more of his rock ’n’ roll greats – it’s a great fun weekend.
